AKEMI BAUER, E.I. EDUCATION New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, MS Environmental Engineering, 2003 REGISTRATION PROFESSIONAL HISTORY AMEC Earth and Environmental, Environmental Engineer, 2003-2006 EXPERIENCE Ms. Bauer has four (4) years of experience in Environmental Site Assessment, remedial corrective action, environmental database management and GIS support tasks. She has extensive research experience in environmental geochemistry and bioremediation technology. Her duties include environmental corrective action, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and remediation system design/installation/operation/maintenance using physical, chemical and microbiological systems, environmental data management using Microsoft Access database, and GIS tasks such as SDSFIE data conversions and creating geodatabases. Also with her wide knowledge of environmental law and regulation for mining, groundwater quality and surface water protection, air quality, she has intensive experiences in regulatory compliance and permitting. In addition Ms. Bauer utilized her bilingual skills to translate a various documents for both English to Japanese and Japanese to English. Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment - Ms. Bauer served as a field engineer to perform soil investigations which include bore hole logging, soil screening, and soil sampling with a variety of drill rigs (roto-sonic, hollow stem auger and direct push), as well as groundwater investigations which contain monitoring well installation, groundwater sampling, water quality screening and subsurface fluctuation monitoring using pressure transducers. With her familiarity with EPA Low Flow Methods, she has conducted intensive groundwater sampling using the well-wizard pressure controller, bladder pumps and peristaltic pumps at the site in Massachusetts. Ms. Bauer has experiences in drafting Phase I Environmental Site Assessment report in accordance with ASTM (E1527-00) and BLM standards. For Phase II investigation, she assisted project manager to identify the area of contamination by summarizing all data collected at the field and from the analytical laboratory, generate discussions and conclusions, and prepare draft reports. As part of reporting efforts, she also created groundwater contour maps using Surfer and major figures using ArcGIS 9.1. Pipe Manufacturing Facility Clean Air Act project engineer responsible for quantification of air emission inventories, assessment of use of appropriate air pollution control equipment and determination of acceptable hazardous air pollution concentrations. Solvent Blending Facility Served as lead remediation engineer. Evaluated historical remedial actions related to significant releases from storage tanks and blending operations. Evaluated probable sources, nature and extent of contamination, and appropriate response actions to contain and eliminate future spread of contaminates. Completed sophisticated analysis of historical and current groundwater monitoring laboratory results. Ms. Bauer also served as field engineer to installed +100 of injection / extraction / monitoring wells for the surfactant enhanced aquifer remediation (SEAR) and bioremediation project at EPA Superfund site in New Mexico. In this Superfund project she also collected molecular biological samples to analyze genetic treatability of indigenous dehalogenation microorganism. In addition, she assisted to prepare contaminated material handling plan as well as bioremediation field pilot test plan. Environmental Database Management - Ms. Bauer conducted intensive soil and concrete samplings for PCB investigation and created database which includes sampling locations, depth and concentration data. She generated varieties of figures using ArcView from PCB investigation database as personal geodatabase. GIS Support Tasks - Ms. Bauer has converted over 100 layers for 5 New Mexico Army National Guard sites to comply with SDSFIE (Spatial Data Standard for Facility, Infrastructure and Environment) standards using SDSFIE tools. She also downloaded coordinate information from a GPS unit to create maps and generate geodatabases for a radiation monitoring project at a uranium tailgate mining. KEY SKILLS Extensive GIS and mapping skills including multi dimensional products with user interaction capabilities
