md mursalin khandaker
Environmental Scientist
MD Mursalin Khandaker recently joined ECCI, where he supports Clean Air Act permitting, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives. In his current role, Mursalin contributes to air emissions calculations; emissions recordkeeping and reporting, including semiannual monitoring reports and annual compliance certifications for Title V facilities; emission factor research; regulatory applicability evaluations; and the development of monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting summaries. He has prepared air emissions inventories (EIQs) reports, air permit modification applications, TRI reports, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reports. As his role continues to expand, he is expected to take on additional responsibilities in air permitting and compliance support, as well as sustainability-focused projects, applying his strong background in environmental engineering, emissions management, and policy analysis. He continues to build his sustainability expertise while expanding further into air quality permitting, compliance, and regulatory strategy to support ECCI’s growing environmental services.
Prior to moving to the United States, Mursalin spent five years in Bangladesh working as a chemical engineer, industrial pollution control specialist, and environmental sustainability consultant. His work focused on chemical management, wastewater and solid waste management, air emissions, greenhouse gas inventories, and energy efficiency. Throughout his career, he supported more than 100 textile facilities and over 20 leather industries in implementing cleaner production practices and achieving regulatory compliance aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 6 through 13.
Mursalin settled in Little Rock, Arkansas, in August 2025 with his wife, who is pursuing a PhD at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking Bangladeshi, East and Southeast Asian, Mediterranean, and Western cuisines; watching Netflix; playing cricket and soccer; and occasionally playing video games or spending time with friends. He is a devoted family man, an avid soccer fan, a proud Lionel Messi enthusiast, and—by his own admission—sometimes drinks more tea and coffee in a day than water.
