The controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The controller is also responsible for enhancing the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Post transactions and reconcile accounts.
Provide monthly invoicing for all client accounts.
Prepare monthly and annual budgets.
Document, design and oversee accounting and financial policies.
Assist management with important financial decisions.
Prepare financials and calculate performance metrics.
Prepare all financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts and statements to understand the financial state of business.
Monitor the company’s financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs.
Keep up-to-date on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits.
Implement tax strategies.
Understand the financials of a company in order to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state in good standing.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent experience and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
Proficient in computer skills using QuickBooks, BillQuick and Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent written and oral communication, quantitative, and interpersonal skills; and detail-oriented.
Strong work ethic, service-oriented, and professional in conduct and demeanor.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Strong desire to build a business and not just have a job.
