Lead Engineering Designer/Technician
The Lead Engineering Designer/Technician is responsible for overseeing the production of high-quality engineering design documents and supporting project teams with technical expertise in drafting and design. This role provides guidance to the design team, ensures consistency in design standards, and collaborates with engineers to deliver accurate and timely project deliverables. The position plays a key role in maintaining the quality and efficiency of our design output across structural, mechanical, and/or environmental engineering projects.
EXAMPLE OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Lead the preparation of engineering drawings and supporting documents for a variety of industrial and environmental projects.
Serve as the internal point of contact for CAD standards, templates, file management, and design best practices.
Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to understand project requirements and provide design solutions.
Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior designers and drafters.
Maintain drawing logs and support drawing control processes during project execution.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of design workflows, tools, and procedures.
Support field personnel and respond to design-related questions or changes during construction or implementation.
Ensure compliance with internal drafting standards and proper CAD file organization.
Collaborate with project teams to meet deadlines and ensure deliverables are accurate and high quality.
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D, Plant 3D, or other discipline-specific tools as needed).
Solid understanding of engineering principles and construction practices.
Ability to interpret and produce plans, sections, details, and other construction documents.
Detail-oriented with a focus on technical accuracy and drafting efficiency.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Collaborative mindset with a proactive problem-solving approach.
Experience mentoring or training junior staff preferred.
